Marc Bertrand: Things won’t look as bad with Drake Maye at QB
On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Marc “Beetle” Bertrand made it clear that the Patriots wouldn’t look as bad with Drake Maye at quarterback.
Jacoby Brissett is still alive…
Marc Bertrand:
I think the Patriots offense looks worse than it actually is. I think Jacoby Brissett is a contributing factor to how many hits this team has allowed and a contributing factor to how many sacks the team is allowed. I think there will be fewer sacks and fewer hits if Drake May is the quarterback, so it won’t look as bad.
Scott Zolak:
He’s killing your plan.
Marc Bertrand:
Let me say that number one. Number two, Jacoby Brissett is still alive. He is upright, he has not been injured yet. Sometimes football players take hits, sometimes it’s part of what you do when you go out there and you play on Sundays and that is going to be something that Drake Maye needs to do early in his career. If you don’t think this is the time, then you don’t think this season is the time. You think next season is the time. What makes you think it’s going to be any better?
Scott Zolak:
I still hear people calling and saying that Joe Milton should play if Jacoby Brissett goes down.
Marc Bertrand:
It gets worse every year. This offense gets worse every year. You just keep punting down the road to next year. Like next year, things are fixed based on what?
Scott Zolak:
Like what did you draft him for? Keep him on the shelf, elf on the shelf. That should be the new thing. It’s Christmas. Drake Maye on the shelf. You can put him up there.
