Patriots take CB Jack Jones 121st overall in 2022 NFL Draft
The Patriots began Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft the same way they ended Day 2 – by drafting a cornerback. With their first of three fourth round selections, the team took Arizona State cornerback Jack Jones.
At 5-foot-11, 171 pounds, Jones can play both on the outside and in the slot. He was a two-year contributor for the Sun Devils, after transferring from USC, he was named honorable mention All-Pac-12 in 2021 when he had three interceptions and six pass breakups with 41 tackles in 11 games.
Jones was linked to the Patriots during the pre-draft process. He came to Foxborough on a top-30 visit. He’s one of three Arizona State prospects the Patriots met with leading up to the draft, along with fellow defensive back Chase Lucas and linebacker Darien Butler.
With this pick, the Patriots continue to rebuild their secondary. Jones will compete for reps at a wide open position. The current depth chart is highlighted by Jalen Mills, Malcolm Butler, Terrance Mitchell, Shaun Wade, and Joejuan Williams.
