Brad Marchand has yet another ‘crispy’ exchange with media
Brad Marchand was a man of few words following Boston’s Game 6 knockout punch to the Blue Jackets on Monday night.
Sportsnet’s Kyle Bukauskas was the first to experience that, as his on-ice postgame interview with Marchand totaled three questions. Bukauskas became hip to Marchand’s game after the second question, and decided to end things after the third question, letting Marchand skate away after a grand total of 10 words over a three-question interview.
Now, there may actually be a good reason for Marchand’s curt handling of Bukauskas, as the two had a bizarre exchange prior to Game 2 of the B’s second-round meeting with the Blue Jackets. It was back then that Bukaukas opted to make a strange joke of sorts to Marchand (a player he has little interaction with on a day-to-day basis as a national television sideline reporter opposed to daily coverage of the team) during a pregame warmup interview. asking Marchand if he got his skates resharpened. (That was a reference to Marchand’s stick-stomping of Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson in Game 1.)
The chirp clearly bothered Marchand. So much that he simply ended the interview right there and then.
So, to think there may have been some carryover trouble from that interview isn’t exactly unfounded.
But Marchand didn’t just save words during his interview with Bukauskas, as he took his short-answering skills to his locker room. Much to the chagrin over the assembled media, Marchand smirked and impressively found ways to dance around saying much of anything in a bizarre two-minute scrum featuring a grand total of 39 words.

It appears #NHLBruins LW @Bmarch63 is still annoyed and feeling crispy with the media after responding with one and two word answers following team's series clinching win over #CBJ #WBZ pic.twitter.com/TLug8LprSM
If we’re dissecting these interviews (as we obviously will), it’s certainly worth mentioning that Marchand’s off-ice interview seemed to have a more playful nature, with Marchand by all means doing his best not to laugh at the situation.
Whether or not it continues into round three is a question that will be answered right off the jump.
And by whether or not it’s more than two words.
