Rafael Devers drove in four runs to reach a major-league-best 101 RBIs on the season, as the Boston Red Sox topped the Baltimore Orioles in a 13-7 comeback win on Sunday at Fenway Park.
Devers drove in the eventual game-winning run with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to score Mitch Moreland. The second of his four RBIs came as part of a six-run outburst in the sixth that powered the Red Sox ahead of Baltimore, who jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first three frames.
The third baseman also homered in the bottom of the seventh inning, his 27th of the season. The blast to deep right field put the Red Sox up 12-6 at the time.
Devers became the first player in the majors to cross the 100-RBI mark, blowing by all of the top-5 players in the National League to take the overall lead in that category.
Boston has now won five in a row, but remain 6 1/2 games behind the Rays for the second wild card spot in the AL. The Red Sox (67-59) have still taken a clear step back from 2018, and are in danger of squandering a breakout season for Devers.
