Red Sox hit 6 home runs, embarrass Orioles 13-2
BALTIMORE – The Baltimore Orioles are all kinds of awful.
The Red Sox hit a season-high six home runs en route to a 13-2 demolishing of the Orioles. Baltimore pitchers have now surrendered 135 home runs in 2019, well on their way to shattering the major league record for the most home runs allowed in a season, which is 258 set by the 2016 Cincinnati Reds
Orioles right-hander Dan Straily gave up four home runs alone in a relief outing where he recorded just four outs. Straily was charged with seven runs on seven hits.
J.D. Martinez homered twice. Jackie Bradley Jr., Michael Chavis, Christian Vazquez, and Brock Holt all went deep. It was the first home run of 2019 for Holt.
Eduardo Rodriguez (7-4) tossed seven strong innings, giving up one run on six hits. He struck out four.
Chris Sale (2-7, 3.52 ERA) will take the ball Saturday night against Dylan Bundy (3-7, 4.50 ERA) as the series continues.
