As the Celtics have dealt with piling injuries over the past two weeks, point guard Derrick White has played a big role in keeping the team in the win column. White was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for his performance during the Celtics’ four-game winning streak last week, then scored 27 on Tuesday night as the Celtics took the Milwaukee Bucks to overtime.

However, the Celtics may need to wrap up the first ‘half’ of their season without White in the lineup. In the second quarter of Tuesday night’s game, White took and elbow to the left ear from Bucks guard Grayson Allen. While White finished the game, afterwards he stayed behind in Milwaukee to see an ear specialist due to trouble hearing, according to TNT reporter Jared Greenberg.

  • Meanwhile, the rest of the team flew back to Boston last night after the game. They have the second-half of a road-home back-to-back on Wednesday night, taking on the Detroit Pistons at TD Garden for their final game before the All-Star break.

The Celtics have yet to release an injury report for Wednesday night’s game, but White would need to have quite the turnaround in order to be available. If White can’t go and Marcus Smart’s ankle injury continues to hold him out, that could mean a rare start for Malcolm Brogdon, increased minutes for Payton Pritchard, and perhaps even some time for rookie JD Davison.

UPDATE: The Celtics have listed White as probable on their latest injury report
