Zolak & Bertrand: Did Jerod Mayo put himself on the hot seat?
On Monday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the crew touches on whether Jerod Mayo put himself on the hot seat with his comments after yesterday’s 30-17 loss to the Cardinals.
I would not feel comfortable if I was on that staff…
Tim McKone:
Man, AVP right under the bus, babe. Thanks for coming out.
Scott Zolak:
I was wide-eyed by it. I was like woah…
Tim McKone
That’s usually not a statement you see from a from a head coach.
Scott Zolak:
He said it. That’s an angry defense mechanism.
Matt McCarthy:
The best defense is a good offense, so if you get defensive, your best approach is to throw your offensive coordinator under the bus. What was that?
Tim McKone:
So, we’re sitting here talking about it Zo and we spent all season talking about how he’s safe. Especially over these last few weeks unless this thing completely goes off the rails. But a lackluster performance coming off the bye, which certainly they had yesterday, which I don’t know how you’re not disappointed by that performance on the field if you’re a Patriots fan, coupled with what he did at the post-game podium. I do think that Jerod Mayo is now on the hot seat and his job and that staff should be concerned moving forward. When you finish up with two games against Buffalo and a game against the Chargers. This has the potential here to get ugly real fast from a Patriots perspective.
Scott Zolak:
I mean, Robert Kraft and Jonathan Kraft were both there yesterday.
Tim McKone:
Yes, taking notes in the booth, and talking about how the offensive play calling was atrocious.
Scott Zolak:
I’m calling the game. I don’t see that stuff.
Tim McKone:
I know you didn’t see it Zo, but it happened. I would not feel very comfortable if I was on that coaching staff right now.
