Zolak & Bertrand: The Football Card – Week 1
It’s finally the first football Friday of the NFL season… which means Zolak & Bertrand is back with The Football Card – Week 1 edition.
Just like the last two seasons, the panel for picks includes Beetle, Zo, Hardy, T-Bone, and Milliken. T-Bone finished with the best record last year going 8-8-1 on the year. Milliken finished in first the year before with a record of 13-4.
One of the biggest questions we get every season is what betting lines do we make our picks from. In past years, sports betting wasn’t allowed in Massachusetts, but that barrier has finally been broken down. Check out Bet MGM to see the exact same lines the guys are looking at.
Scott Zolak (0-0): Packers @ Bears – Packers Moneyline
Even with the Bears in Chicago, Zo isn’t betting on Justin Fields to take a major step this year. Instead, he’s buying all the Jordan Love stock he can get. All in on a Packers upset.
Marc Bertrand (0-0): Cowboys @ Giants – Cowboys (-3.5)
Beetle isn’t the biggest Mike McCarthy fan, but he’s an even lesser fan of the Giants. He doesn’t see them taking a major step forward after adding Darren Waller like many are projecting. It’s all about talent and the Cowboys easily win that battle.
Hardy (0-0): Rams @ Seahawks – Seahawks -4.5
It took some back and forth, but Hardy ended up landing with the Seahawks -4.5. Rams aren’t the same squad they were a few seasons ago outside of Matt Stafford and Aaron Donald, especially with Cooper Kupp still not being ready to go. Geno Smith should pick up from where he left off last season and hand Sean McVay another loss.
T-Bone (0-0): Jaguars @ Colts – Jaguars -4.5
T-Bone believes the Colts are going to look like crap with rookie QB Anthony Richardson leading them down the field. Throw in Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars taking another big step forward after breaking out last year and this should be a beatdown in Indy.
Milliken (0-0): Raiders @ Broncos – Broncos -3
Milliken is riding with the Broncos under new Head Coach Sean Payton. Running back Javonte Williams is expected to play a big role, with wide receiver Jerry Jeudy also trending towards playing. Throw in the drama surrounding Chandler Jones and the Raiders and this seems like a good time to ride with Broncos Country.
