Zolak & Bertrand: Is Travis Hunter a fit for the Patriots?
On Monday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the guys discuss whether Travis Hunter makes sense for the Patriots after winning the Heisman.
I think he’s a corner in the NFL…
Tim McKone:
So, they have the third pick right now. The Patriots do. Would you take Travis Hunter with that third pick as of now?
Scott Zolak:
What are you playing him at? He’s projected as a better corner. Do you need another corner right now opposite of Christian Gonzalez and Marcus Jones and those guys. Do you need that guy?
Matt McCarthy:
Do you need him? No. Would it hurt? Of course not.
Scott Zolak:
Is that your number one need when you watched that team yesterday? Receiver?
Matt McCarthy:
No, your number one need is tackle. I would take a tackle.
Scott Zolak:
I don’t if he’s fast enough to be a receiver next level. He has quick twitch ability. I think he has better instincts at corner. I’ve watched their games a lot this year. I think he has better instincts at corner, like that ball-hawking ability, that’s not taught. Like I remember when Jack Jones was here, and he had that plant. Certain guys have that, Jack Jones wasn’t taught that because he’s like a goofball. There are guys that break on the ball. I’ve talked to Stephon Gilmore, Ty Law, and Darrelle Revis about this. There’s stuff you can’t teach. That stuff you can’t teach. He’s a corner at the next level.
Matt McCarthy:
He could play wide receiver here though…
Scott Zolak:
He sure could. He’d be a one here. It depends how one and two go. You don’t need the quarterback. So, the pick isn’t as valuable because it’s not a quarterback.
