Highlights: Bruins stay hot with 5-2 win over Blue Jackets
A third-period power-play opportunity gave the Bruins all the room they needed to score the go-ahead goal and continue their winning ways Saturday night, as Erik Haula scored the game-winning goal before the Bruins added a pair of empty-net tallies en route to a 5-2 final over the Blue Jackets at TD Garden.
The goal was Haula’s second of the game, and continued what’s been a strong run for the B’s second-line center since the trade deadline, with four goals and 10 points in six games over that stretch.
Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk also found the back of the net this game, and though it was an empty net marker, it was enough to push DeBrusk’s goal-scoring streak to four games.
In net, Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman stopped 22 shots for his 20th victory of the season.
With the win, the Bruins have now captured victories in nine of their last 11 games.
Prior to the game, the Bruins honored Nick Foligno for reaching the 1,000-game mark. Foligno hit the milestone back on Mar. 15 when the Bruins visited the Blackhawks, but scheduled the ceremony for when the Bruins hosted the Blue Jackets. Foligno spent nine years with the Jackets, and served as the team’s captain for almost six full years.
The Bruins will now head on the road for a four-game road swing with stops in Columbus, Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Washington. That trip begins with a rematch with the Blue Jackets on Monday night.
