Red Sox sweep Mariners with 11-2 win
BOSTON – The Red Sox bats pounded the Seattle Mariners pitching staff again, picking up an 11-2 win Sunday and a series sweep.
Rookie Michael Chavis had a huge day, going 3-for-5 with five runs batted in. J.D. Martinez homered twice, a solo shot in the first inning and a two-run home run in the ninth inning.

Rafael Devers had another multi-hit game, scoring two runs and driving in a run as part of a 3-for-5 afternoon.
Red Sox batters worked eight walks on the day. Xander Bogaers had four walks by himself and scored three runs.
Hector Velazquez turned in his longest outing of 2019, tossing five innings of two-run ball. The right-hander gave up two hits, walked two, and struck out three. With the win, Velazquez improved to 1-2 on the year.
The Red Sox are off Monday and begin a two-game series with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. Chris Sale (1-5, 4.50 ERA) will take the ball against Kyle Freeland (2-5, 5.84 ERA).
