Brown Checkmark: Do the Boston Bruins have a locker room leadership issue?
On Friday’s Felger and Mazz, Mazz said he has a brown checkmark (for those that don’t normally listen to the Felger and Mazz program a brown checkmark is a “rumor has it” type situation) about the Boston Bruins and their locker room leadership situation.
Mazz: Little whispers have been out there for a long time that the Bruins have a quote unquote locker room leadership problem. That has been out there for a while and so to me that suggests…..
Felger: Has that? That’s the first I’ve heard of it.
Mazz: I’m telling you now.
Felger: Tell us what you know…
Mazz: OK. Brown checkmark, but the general belief is that the Bruins have a locker room leadership problem. And when I say problem, I will acknowledge that Marchand is in a little bit of a tough spot because he followed two of the best captains that you’re going to get. So they’re used to having guys that could sort of police the room and extend the message. The coaches didn’t have to get involved in any of this stuff. And now that doesn’t necessarily happen the way it used to. So to me, I’m guessing this is the problem between Montgomery and Marchand.
Felger: Interesting. Well, there we go. Now we’re start connecting some dots. Where have you been? Where have you holding out on?
Mazz: Brown checkmark! Brown checkmark! Brown checkmark!
Felger: I don’t care. That’s like gold to us.

Felger: According to a source.
Mazz: A brown checkmark.
Felger: A source..
Mazz: A brown checkmark. I’m not reporting anything I’m just telling you that it’s, you know, put it this way….
Jim Murray: It looks that way on the ice, so I believe it.
Mazz: So that’s what I was just going to say. When a team looks the way it looks doesn’t it feel like uniformed players against the coach?
Felger: Yes. Well when they’re pushing each other on the bench and in TV timeouts he’s bringing the entire team around him, bringing out the white board..it’s sort of obvious there’s an issue there. Player coach. Like players coach.
Mazz: Something’s not getting through.
