Celtics rumored for another possible reunion ahead of trade deadline
With the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline looming, rumors continue to name the Boston Celtics as potential trade destinations for a big man.
One name is familiar to fans: according to Michael Scotto at HoopsHype, the Celtics have expressed interest in the 76ers’ Guerschon Yabusele.
Yabusele began his career in Boston, playing his first two seasons with the Celtics (2017-18 and 2018-19) after being selected No. 16 overall in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft. Following his stint in Boston, the power forward/center spent six seasons playing professional basketball abroad in China and Europe, prior to rejoining the NBA when he was signed by the Sixers in August.
Since joining the 76ers, Yabusele has played in 44-of-46 games in 2024-25, averaging 26.2 minutes, 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He would add depth to the Celtics’ big man rotation.

Standing at 6-foot-8, he is slightly undersized for a center, but he has been shooting effectively for the 76ers: 50.2 percent from the field, and he can shoot the three at a consistent rate (39.3 percent), which fits into the Celtics’ three-point-heavy system.
Yabusele now stands as one of the several big men the Celtics are rumored to have interest in ahead of the trade deadline. As the C’s continue to be linked to bigs, it appears Brad Stevens could look to make a move to bolster the team’s roster in hopes of another extended playoff run in 2025.
