The Roni Rumble Final Four
After weeks of voting we are at the final four of The Roni Rumble. 76 pizza shops battled it out to get here and only 1 can be crowned champion. The Roni Rumble started in 2019-2020 as a creative way to show what shops were open and serving food for take out. Many businesses were suffering during Covid, and the initiative was to highlight some of the restaurants you may not know about. The overall mission is to showcase the pizza offerings that Massachusetts and surrounding areas offer. Let’s take a look at the final 4 contestants
Blue Square Pizza- Hopkinton, MA
Blue Square puts their focus on bringing three exciting pizza trends to your home: Detroit-style pizza, grandma pizza (a.ka. the grandma pie), and the New York round pie. At Blue Square Pizza they believe the crust should be the best part of the pizza, and great crust starts with understanding how to bake great bread. That’s why they employ bread-baking techniques to the in-house production of our pizza dough. All their pizza crusts will have a crispy exterior and a light, airy, and tender interior.
Joanies Pizza- Chelmsford, MA.
Joanie’s is an excellent pie and was highlighted by Dave Portnoy of Barstool sports. They are so busy and so good and the parlor is names after their daughter.Pizza comes in a million different shapes and sizes – all beautiful. They make New York style pies. Characterized by a thin, crisp yet flexible crust. The saying is “We like our pizza crispy and our cookies chewy, ok?!”
The Rail Trail Flatbread Company- Hudson & Milford, MA.
Rail trail is absolutely fantastic. They have a location in Milford with multiple floors and a big bar. The Hudson location is across from the creamery and a great combo to bring the family. Although delicious wood fired flatbread pizza is the champion on their menu, it’s just the beginning. They believe food should be fun and approachable for everyone and never, ever too serious.
Garlic Breath- North Andover, MA.
The name alone deserves to be in the final four. Thin, crispy, New York-style pizza made right in North Andover. Garlic Breath “an old-school, New York-style slice shop,” as owner Justin Pronovost put it. Think classic booths, wood paneling, red trays, paper plates, a framed ninja turtle is featured on the walls.
