Why the Patriots starting 0-2 isn’t shameful…
Despite panic starting to settle in around the Patriots after falling to 0-2, Zolak & Bertrand aren’t willing to call their start to the season shameful.
Look who they played…
Marc Bertrand: Is there any shame for the Patriots in being 0-2, just the record, just based on the fact that they’re 0-2?
Scott Zolak: Not how you lost, right. I don’t like that they’re 0-2, I don’t like that it could possibly be 0-3 or 0-4 if you get to Dallas and we will talk about Dallas next week. But I don’t know, it’s the way you lost and like he said, you got ruled out, you got ruled short. You know, you’re not blaming the refs there. It’s just you came up short. It’s not like you got your doors blown off. Like if we’re sitting here and they lost by 14 or they lost by 20 in Week 2, I’d call it an epic disaster. But I don’t phrase it that way. I don’t think their season’s dead, but I do think it’s on the line this week. They’ve got to get it going this week.
Marc Bertrand: I would agree and this will be the first week, that you can’t say… well, there’s no shame in losing that game. They lost to a better team and a team that’s better coached and has a better quarterback arguably. That doesn’t exist for them this week. It did exist for them in the first two weeks. They lost the two teams that were better than them last year and were favorites going into the games. This week, they won’t have that sort of security net built in for them in terms of how you view this team. That doesn’t exist against Zach Wilson.
Scott Zolak: And that’s the problem… is if they pop the Jets and if they beat the Jets, you beat them with Zach Wilson, you didn’t beat them with Aaron Rodgers. It’ll be viewed differently. No doubt about it. Which puts even more of a spot on them, more pressure on them. You gotta go down there and win. I don’t care how you win. Ugly. Win ugly. Find a way to win.
Marc Bertrand: Road favorite this weekend. Got to go there. Got to win. Because then there will start to be some shame in what their record is. At 0-2, I think there’s a clear and clean argument… hey they lost to two better teams. Teams that were better than them. Now, don’t think that exists going into this game this week. So they won’t have that anymore.
