Phil Perry: I’m surprised how quiet it’s been on the Patriots OC search
On Friday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston explained how he’s been surprised about how quiet the Patriots’ search for an offensive coordinator has been, despite reaching out to people who should have an idea.
I’ve been trying to find stuff out…
Phil Perry:
I’m curious to hear how curious you guys are about the offense coordinator spot here in New England. That’s the biggest, most important job left to fill because of the impact that it’ll have on Drake Maye and I’m a little surprised that we haven’t heard much. I’ve been trying. I know many of us have been trying to figure out who the Patriots are going to be bringing in to interview. I’m a little surprised we haven’t heard much yet. I’ve actually reached out to a few people that you would think maybe would be hearing from the Patriots on something like this and haven’t yet and so I’m curious on a number of different fronts. Why the wait #1 and who’s it going to be? Is it going to be a long list? Are they going to be zeroed in on one particular person? Is this Josh McDaniels or bust, the same way the head coaching job was Vrabel or bust? And if it is, how do we feel about that? So, I’ve got a few different questions when it comes to the offensive coordinator thing because I look at Josh McDaniels and there are plenty of positives there and I would put him as the favorite right now because of his familiarity with the organization and with ownership especially. Obviously, he crossed over with Mike Vrabel here. He was running that offense by the time Vrabel left here. But is that more of the same in terms of just leaning on what you’re comfortable with and do you have a problem with that?
