Mazz’ Tiers: NFL Week 9 Power Rankings

On Thursday’s Felger & Mazz program, Tony Massarotti gave his power rankings for NFL Week 9.

NFL Power Rankings

TIER 1

Kansas City
Detroit

Can anyone stop the Kansas City Chiefs? As the last-standing NFL team with a perfect record (7-0), the Red-Gold-and-White look to parlay their current success into a third-consecutive Super Bowl championship.

Meanwhile, the NFL’s second-best team, the Detroit Lions, is led by red-hot quarterback Jared Goff. In the past 5 weeks, Mr. Perfect has not had his completion percentage dip below 72 percent. In Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals, Goff threw a perfect 18-for-18 on his passing attempts.

The Buffalo Bills are another hot team, having won their last three games. Quarterback Josh Allen has impressively thrown for 14 touchdowns and only one interception. The Bills also hold the second-highest EPA per play average in the NFL over the past three weeks, according to Pro Football Focus.

The New England Patriots will match up against the Tennessee Titans this week in Nashville. The Titans’ struggling passing game has lost them the past three games. Tennesee ranks 31st in passing yards per game with 161.9. Second-year quarterback Will Levis could return to the starting lineup after dealing with an injury. But would that actually help the team? Levis holds the lowest passing grade in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

This is the fifth season for the New England Patriots without legendary quarterback Tom Brady. In that same time frame, the Pats haven’t found a strong identity on offense. Now, with rookie Drake Maye poised to give New England the offensive spark they’ve been looking for, New England thinks they may have found their guy. However, Maye suffered a concussion last week against the New York Jets. He’ll have to pass a five-step concussion protocol to play this week versus the Titans.

Halloween Playlist: 12 Top Tunes from Toucher & Hardy to Get Spooky

A lot of listeners have asked about the music on the Toucher & Hardy show. So I decided to make a Halloween playlist.

I’m Adam 12, Executive Producer of Toucher & Hardy, weekday mornings from 6-10 a.m. on the Sports Hub. “Executive Producer” can mean a lot of different things, as Executive Producers do a lot of different things, depending on the station and the show.

The things I do for this show include but are not limited to: manning the control board; working with the associate producers to collect and edit audio, book guests, and gather information for segments; and picking the music to kick off each segment.

Halloween Playlist: Playing DJ

I’m also the Program Director of sister station ROCK 92.9, and I’ve been doing the whole DJ/radio thing for a long, long time. So when I took over on Toucher & Hardy as Executive Producer, I used it as an opportunity to flex my musical muscle.

Luckily, I’ve worked with and been friends with Fred and Hardy for a while. I know the music they like and where our tastes overlap. And I know that the right song at the right time can put us all in the right frame of mind to put on a good show for you every morning.

Halloween Playlist: 12 Spooky Tunes

If you’ve been listening lately, you know I’m a big fan of using music to tie into time and place. So with Halloween on a weekday, I took the opportunity to dig into my personal library and unearth some of my favorite ‘ween jams.

    Spooky Rhode Island punk rockabilly. I played this song on the radio when it was new. I am old.

    Can’t make a Halloween playlist without this classic. I mean, you can, I guess. It would just suck.

    Gotta have a “hell” song. And if I put “Hell” by Squirrel Nut Zippers on here, Fred would kill me.

    This one borrows heavily from John Carpenter’s Halloween theme to great effect. Total banger.

    “Hey 12, why didn’t you go with the Misfits original?” Because I like the DKM cover better.

    I guess I disagree with the title, as I only really play this song on and around Halloween every year.

  • Psychedelic Furs "The Ghost In You"

    Halloween playlist, gotta have a “ghost” song. And since no one knows “Ghost Under Rocks” by Ra Ra Riot, I’m going with this one.

  • Type O Negative "Black No. 1"

    What’s a Halloween without Peter Steele & Co.? It’s not much of a Halloween, I say!

  • William Bell "Born Under A Bad Sign"

    Wrapping up with some spooky blues. Because I think Hardy will like this one.
