Comparing the coaching records of Andy Reid and Bill Belichick
With the Kansas City Chiefs about to play in yet another AFC Championship game under Head Coach Andy Reid, Felger and Mazz take a look at Reid and how he stacks up to the coaching record of Bill Belichick.
Felger: Andy Reid all time is 300-162. Bill Belichick is 333-180. But without Patrick Mahomes, and I just piece this together if I’m off by one or two please help me out:
Regular season and playoffs without Patrick Mahomes Andy Reid is 195-136. Without Patrick Mahomes Andy Reid has been to the playoffs 13 times and he has eleven playoff wins. He has four conference title games and he has one Super Bowl appearance. Without Tom Brady Bill Belichick has been to the playoffs once and lost the game. That’s it.

Felger: Here are Andy Reid’s quarterbacks outside of Patrick Mahomes, all these guys have started games for Andy Reid between Philadelphia and Kansas City:
Doug Pederson, Donovan McNabb, Koy Detmer, A.J. Feely, Mike McMahon, Jeff Garcia, Kevin Kolb, Mike Vick, Vince Young, Nick Foles, Alex Smith, Chase Daniel, Nick Foles (I just include Foles twice because he started for him in Philly and at least once in Kansas City), Matt Moore, Chad Henne, Blaine Gabbert, Carson Wentz. So some of those guys were just a game, right? And maybe Andy Reid lost. I didn’t go back and look at the records with all those quarterbacks. Maybe it’s wretched. All I know is, without Patrick Mahomes Andy Reid 195-136 with 11 playoff wins, four conference title games, and an appearance in the Super Bowl. Bill Belichick without Tom Brady…one playoff season, no playoff wins (Mike did the math wrong so we’ll help him out: two playoff seasons, one playoff win
