2025 Major Championship predictions: Early season edition

With the 2025 Masters under 100 days away and the 2025 PGA Tour season officially underway, now feels like the perfect time to make some major championship predictions for the 2025 season!

This is a follow up to my way too early predictions that I made back in October!

The Masters

Brooks Koepka

The Masters - Round Three

My way too early pick here was Scottie Scheffler but I’m going to change course to Koepka. It’s so hard to win back to back at The Masters and I’m buying into the fact that Scheffler’s Christmas Day hand injury is going to slow him in 2025. I’m shifting to Koepka here because, well, he’s Brooks Koepka. The five-time major champion has sniffed victory at The Masters twice, including holding the 54-hole lead in 2023 before falling to Jon Rahm. Koepka’s major pedigree is undeniable and it feels like only a matter of time before he wins at Augusta National.

PGA Championship

Jon Rahm

2024 PGA Championship - Round Two

I originally had Rory McIlroy here due to his dominance at Quail Hollow over the years. However, I think Jon Rahm returns to the major championship winners circle in 2025 and the PGA Championship feels like the right spot for it. Rahm’s major season in 2024 was underwhelming and included a missed cut at the PGA Championship. I don’t think he has a lot to prove in 2025 because he did have a good 2024 overall, but a bounce back win at the PGA would be huge for him and the LIV Tour.

U.S. Open

Ludvig Aberg

U.S. Open - Final Round

PINEHURST, NORTH CAROLINA - JUNE 16: Ludvig Aberg of Sweden looks over a putt on the seventh hole during the final round of the 124th U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort on June 16, 2024 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)

I originally chose Ludvig Aberg to win here and I’m sticking to it. He held the 36-hole lead at last year’s U.S. Open and ultimately finished T12. He spent the last half of the season dealing with a meniscus tear that has since been fixed. The young Swede will win multiple majors in his career and I think he gets his first at Oakmont.

The Open Championship

Jordan Spieth

146th Open Championship - Final Round

Much like my U.S. Open pick, I’m sticking with my original Open Championship pick. I think Jordan Spieth will slowly build back up to tip-top shape throughout the year following wrist surgery and will be in prime position to win late in the year. As for his return to the winners circle....it’ll be at Royal Portrush, where he’ll take home his second Claret Jug and fourth career major championship title.
