A marriage proposal gone wrong at a WooSox game (Video)
Proposing at a sporting event seems like a monumental risk. It’s very public, feels very forced, and there really is no exit strategy. Yet during Thursday night’s Worcester Red Sox game, one brave man gave it a go.
Instead of a ‘yes,’ the result was one of the first viral moments in the history of Polar Park. The proposers would-have-been bride-to-be ran out through the bleachers, leaving him stranded on top of the dugout.
Shortly after the video surfaced, our own Jim Murray posed an important question – is all of this on the level? Was this guy actually rejected, or was this a stunt?
The speed in which the woman exits certainly could be rehearsed. At the same time, there does seem to be some genuine shock on the man’s face.
You’ll have to watch the video and judge for yourself what really happened. Here’s how some others on Twitter interoperated the events.
Wow...I got so excited to see this video but it is so clearly faked.

Just popping in here to tell everyone that a girl just denied a proposal at the @WooSox game and she literally ran away & while this would be a great time to dunk on Worcester.....it’s more important that we all agree to end stadium proposals. Please 😅

Someone just rejected a proposal on the kiss cam. The WooSox really do have everything.

I saw a proposal rejection at Fenway once. The entire crowd gave her a standing ovation. https://t.co/vGHR3yc6wO

Christian Arcand and Matt McCarthy also had a caller last night who was at the game give a first-person account of the events.
The rejectee wasn’t the only one to go home disappointed. Worcester lost the game to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 11-3.
