Felger: Something is not right with David Pastrnak
The Boston Bruins took down the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night thanks to David Pastrnak forcing a controversial turnover and setting up Pavel Zacha for the overtime winner. On Wednesday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger gave his thoughts on the play of Pastrnak so far this season.
Felger: I think he totally dove and I think they were lucky to get the call. Both things can be true. Most of the time the ref is going to fall for that.
Jim Murray: So that part, yes, they’re lucky that the ref didn’t blow the whistle because 9 times out of 10 that’s going to get called.
Felger: 9 times out of 10 the refs is just going to see it and see how the player went down and see the situation and throw his arm up and you’re going to the box. I think that ref showed a lot of restraint by not calling a penalty on that. So I think it was both the right call and lucky. Both can be true. And that’s what I think that was. And it kind of annoys me that Pastrnak was central to it because I think he was such garbage and is playing so poorly that it’s just, of course he’s out there for the three on three and of course he’s in on the game-winning goal and part of the reason you win the game.
Felger: Something is not right with this guy.
Jim Murray: Hasn’t been since the beginning of the season.
Felger: He’s always a turnover machine and he’s always losing his skates and hitting the deck. I just hate the way he is just so unstable on his skates. I’ve always hated it. I feel like it’s even worse this year. He can’t hold on to the puck, he’s a turnover machine, he can’t keep his skates, and he’s just out there constantly. I think there’s something wrong with him. I don’t know if it’s physically or if it’s mentally. If it’s on the ice or off the ice. I have no idea. But there’s something not right with that guy and it’s painful to watch.
