Felger: The Bruins big players showed up against the Flames
The Boston Bruins took down the Calgary Flames on Thursday night in overtime to win for the third time in four games. What Felger really liked about the win was that it was the Bruins big players that helped the team to victory.
Felger: The story is that they’ve been a dead-ass team for much of the year, and I thought last night was just a little bit of life. What I liked about last night is that their big players showed up, which they hadn’t all season. And I know everyone gets all horned up about secondary scoring and that fourth line and when those guys play well, like no, you need your best players to show up and for too much of the season they hadn’t been showing up. Last night Pastrnak had two big assists, Zacha finally put his head down and ripped one, Marchand with the game winner set up by Elias Lindholm, their number one center, Coyle set up Koepke with a good goal, Coyle really made the play, gaining the edge, feeding it in front of the net, like it was your best players that kind of showed up…finally. Maybe they’re waking up, I don’t know. Not that I could have predicted this, I thought they were done. Montgomery was dead man walking. But here they are. I think they’ve won 3 of 4.
Mazz: No, three out of four, their only loss was the Toronto game.
Felger: So they won three out of four and I don’t know, there was a report out today, I heard Beatle and Zo talking about is a report out today that Montgomery is going to make it through the year. Someone up in Canada, I think, reported it, that Montgomery is going to make it through the year, which again, I’m not betting on.
