Bedard: 10 questions from Around the NFL following week 13
Greg Bedard of BostonSportsJournal.com joined Felger and Mazz on Tuesday and answered 10 questions from Around the NFL following week 13 of the 2024 NFL season. Below are some of the best QnA’s!
I’ve asked this before but after last night I will reset once again: should we all be coming around on Bo Nix?
Greg Bedard: I’m not ready yet. I need to see more. I think if he was on any other team, including the Patriots, he’d be a disaster. And I’ll say this, because I think Sean Payton has the most to do with it, if Bo Nix becomes really good it’s going to make me think differently about Drew Brees and exactly how good Brees was.
How would you describe the ending of the Bears-Lions on Thanksgiving. How much blame do you put on Caleb Williams?
Greg Bedard: It was a cluster. I put zero on Caleb Williams. They should’ve called a timeout after the sack. I mean, even Jerod Mayo got that right in one of the Patriots games this year where he called a timeout after a sack and they ended up spiking the ball and getting a field goal. So nothing on Caleb Williams.
How would you describe the ending of the Chiefs and Raiders on Friday?
Greg Bedard: A debacle. I mean look, the snap and how that happened, I don’t know. I thought the officials got it right. Now I haven’t seen the coaches film of it but from what I saw on the T.V. I thought they got it right. I don’t think it was a false start, I think it was illegal motion.
If you are the top coaching candidate in the sport, what, in order, are the three most desirable jobs available in the league?
Greg Bedard: Until proven otherwise, I’m putting number one on this list the Patriots. They are by far the best job. They have Drake Maye, you have like $120 million in cap space, and you’re going to have a top 5 pick. The Giants because they are the Giants and you also have like $40 million in cap space and they’re going to have a pick where you can get a quarterback, so I don’t think it’s terrible. And the Bears. Even though I don’t love that they’re keeping the President and the G.M., I don’t love that. But there’s enough talent there and there’s $62 million in cap space.
What’s the best or most interesting thing you ever did during the bye week?
Greg Bedard: I can’t think of anything. Really I just use it as a chance to rest and watch football and just chill out for a day. And I’m fine with that. I don’t want to travel anywhere, I don’t want to get more tired. Like, I just want to rest up for a weekend.
