Is Jerod Mayo’s future in New England in jeopardy?
Could Jerod Mayo be a one and done as Head Coach of the New England Patriots? Greg Bedard of BostonSportsJournal.com gives Felger and Mazz his thoughts on the future of Mayo as the Patriots Head Coach.
Felger: Greg, do you disagree with Lombardi that Jerod Mayo is safe?
Greg Bedard: As of this moment, yes, I do think that there is something at stake for Jerod Mayo in the final four games of the season. I would say that the Kraft’s do a good job of, they really wait until the end of the season and they want to see the complete picture on how things look. But yeah, I don’t think he’s 100% safe. And you know I’ve said this before and I still think it’s in in the same boat, if they go 3-14, lose their final seven games of the season, get their doors blown off in the final four games, I think that his job is in jeopardy. I don’t think that’s going to happen but we’re going to have to see.
Felger: OK. So what do you mean you don’t think that’s going to happen? It’s in jeopardy, but he’ll save it at the end?
Greg Bedard: Yeah, I think that. I think they’ll play well enough down the stretch and that just means being competitive. I think that there’s no reason why they can’t be competitive with a Cardinals team that’s lost three straight. And also the Chargers. Where the Chargers are offensively, they’re not exactly blowing anybody out. So both those games, at least I expect to be tight.
