Bruins call up forward ahead of game at Devils
The Boston Bruins made a call-up in their forward group amid key injuries on the NHL roster, as they get set for a road tilt against the New Jersey Devils.
GM Don Sweeney announced Tuesday that the team is recalling forward Jesper Boqvist from Providence. Boqvist’s only NHL game this season so far was back on Oct. 26, when the Bruins lost 4-3 in overtime to the Anaheim Ducks. He played 6:02 of ice time in the game and logged one hit.
Boqvist has spent most of his time with the Providence Bruins, and has scored 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 24 games for the minor league club. Before signing a one-year deal with the B’s for the 2023-24 season, Boqvist spent the first four years of his NHL career with the team’s opponent Wednesday night, the Devils.
Boston is dealing with multiple injuries to key players at both forward and defense. That doesn’t necessarily mean that Boqvist will play. The Bruins’ Tuesday practice lines had Morgan Geekie, Charlie Coyle, Matt Poitras, and Johnny Beecher leading the way at center (h/t Prax lines:
