NBA announces Celtics season opener, Christmas game
The full NBA schedule for the 2021-2022 season will be released later this week, but some key dates have already been announced. Among those that have been revealed include the Boston Celtics’ season opener and Christmas Day game.
Boston’s 2021-2022 season will begin with a trip to Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The Celtics were 1-2 against the Knicks last year, including a loss in their lone game at MSG.
For Christmas, the Celtics will visit the reigning NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks, who they were also 1-2 against last year. That game will be at 2:30 p.m. The Celtics are 15-19 all-time on Christmas, and this year will be their fifth season in a row playing on Dec. 25.
As for the remaining 80 games, they’re expected to be announced on Friday at 3:00 p.m. as part of a league-wide announcement. This year is expected to be the NBA’s first 82-game season since 2018-2019, with the last two shortened due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
