Jayson Tatum is heading back to the NBA All-Star Game
On Thursday night Jayson Tatum was announced as a starter for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, representing the Eastern Conference.
Thursday night, the NBA announced 10 players who have been named to the 2025 All-Star Game as starters. That list includes Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, representing the Eastern Conference.
This is Tatum’s sixth career All-Star nod, and fifth in a row. It’s the third time he’s been voted as a starter. Tatum was named All-Star MVP in 2023, when he set a new record scoring 55 points in the game.

Tatum, 26, is averaging 27.4 points per game this season, which ranks fifth in the NBA and third in the Eastern Conference entering play on Thursday night. He’s getthing there shooting 45.7 percent from the floor and 35.5 percent from deep. On top of that, he’s also averaging career highs with 9.2 rebuilds and 5.5 assists per game. Tatum has played in 41 games total, averaging 36.5 minutes per game.
Joining Tatum as Eastern Conference starters are Jaylen Brunson, Donovan Mitchell, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokić, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James are the starters voted in from the Western Conference. 14 more players will be named to the All-Star Game as reserves. That group will be announced on Jan. 30.

While these players were voted in as the ‘starters,’ there is no singular game for them to start. The NBA is using a new format for the All-Star Game this year. All 24 All-Stars will be drafted onto three teams by TNT analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith. Those three teams, plus a fourth team made up of Rising Stars players, will make up the contestants. Two of the NBA teams will play each other to 40, with the third NBA team playing the Rising Stars team. The winners of those two games will then play each other in the championship, once again to 40.
That tournament will take place on Feb. 16 to wrap up All-Star weekend. This year’s festivities are being held at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
