Suspensions and Fines Handed Down After Last Night’s Red Sox/Yankees Brawl
Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly and Yankees first baseman Tyler Austin have each been suspended and fined as a result of Wednesday night’s benches & bullpen-clearing brawl at Fenway Park.
Kelly has been handed a six game suspension while Austin has received a five game suspension, according to Major League Baseball’s Chief Baseball Officer, Joe Torre.
In addition to the suspensions, Kelly and Austin have also each been fined an undisclosed amount of money.
Coaches and Other Players Fined
Additional undisclosed fines were handed out against Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Yankees third base coach Phil Nevin.
Several players on the disabled list were also fined for entering the field of play, including CC Sabathia of the Yankees and Red Sox Xander Bogarts, Marco Hernandez and Dustin Pedroia.

Suspensions were scheduled to go into effect tonight, however both players have opted to appeal the punishment, which will be delayed until the appeals process completes.
