Mike Reiss: I believe Mike Vrabel is “100%” in-charge of the Patriots’ football operation
On Tuesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com explained why he believes Mike Vrabel is “100%” in-charge of the Patriots’ football operation.
Vrabel doesn’t take the job if he didn’t have final say…
Marc Bertrand:
Is he in charge of the entire operation?
Mike Reiss:
100% is the way I feel about that. I don’t think there’s any question. Do you have a question about that Beetle?
Marc Bertrand:
Wow, I mean your answer is so emphatic. It caught me off guard. I do have questions. I believe he is the guy who’s going to break the ties and have the final say, I do. I don’t think he would come here without that, so my only question is how much bullcrap is he going to have to put up with when it comes to other guys in the room. Especially Eliot Wolf. Is this a power struggle now when it comes to evaluating players at the combine and getting ready for the draft, or figuring out which players in free agency they want to target? Does he have to but heads with Elliott Wolf on players that they have disagreements about?
Mike Reiss:
So, my this is my opinion, and I feel like it was reinforced by what has been said. Has he already won it by getting the job? And so, the way I view this, is Eliott Wolf and his staff will do the work on evaluating the players because Mike Vrabel can’t do that. There’s too much to the head coaching job. They will present that to Mike Vrabel and ultimately, they’re obviously going to talk in collaboration, but Mike has got the hammer because I’m with you Beetle, but I don’t believe Mike Vrabel would have taken the job if he didn’t have the hammer.
