Eric Canha-USA TODAY SportsVeteran wide receiver K.J. Osborn re-signs with the Washington Commanders on a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter. Osborn played seven games with the New England Patriots in 2024 before finding himself in Washington, where he played just one game.
The Patriots have lacked a steady veteran presence in their wide receiver room for several years. Although Kendrick Bourne does try to fill that role, his message appears to often fall on deaf ears. So, Osborn was brought to New England to be both a productive receiving option and a positive leader in the room.
However, he was neither in New England. Not only did he fail to perform (seven receptions for 57 yards and one touchdown), but he also became a problem in the locker room, publicly expressing his displeasure with the team.
So, the Patriots are still in search of not only a highly productive weapon for Drake Maye, but also a reliable veteran leader in the wide receiver room.
