Patriots’ center options still remain for Sunday
The New England Patriots didn’t rule out starting center Ben Brown on their final injury report of Week 17, leaving the door open for him to return from a concussion for the matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.
With their Week 17 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers coming on Saturday, the New England Patriots released their final injury report of the week on Thursday. One player was ruled out for Saturday, with 10 more listed as questionable.
The one player ruled out is cornerback Marcus Jones (hip). He’ll miss his second game in a row.
Of the 10 questionable players, that group is highlighted by starting center Ben Brown (concussion). Brown is in the concussion protocol and has not practiced this week, but the team isn’t ruling him out just yet. If Brown can’t go on Saturday, Cole Strange and Lecitus Smith are candidates to start in his place.
Three players were added to the Patriots’ report on Thursday. Linebackers Anfernee Jennings (knee), Sione Takitaki (knee), and Titus Leo (ankle) were all limited on Thursday and listed as questionable. Kyle Dugger (ankle/quad) returned to practice for the first time this week – he was limited and listed as questionable as well.
Meanwhile the Chargers ruled out three players. Running back Gus Edwards (ankle), offensive lineman Trey Pipkins (hip), and linebacker Denzel Perryman (groin) all won’t play. Four other Chargers are questionable including running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) and tight end Will Dissly (shoulder).
