Marc Bertrand: I feel a bit of validation after Drake Maye’s performance
On Friday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Marc “Beetle” Bertrand explained why feels validated after Drake Maye’s performance last night.
They should be more invested in developing him right now…
Marc Bertrand:
Last night, I think everybody was able to see that Drake Maye has enough talent that this team should be more invested in developing this quarterback. They have not been invested in that this summer. We have been able to see that. It has been on full display. They have not put enough in terms of their effort, resources, time, ect. First team reps is the easiest way to gauge it. They haven’t done it and then Drake Maye last night, when the game is on TV and there’s a stadium full of people, went out and looked pretty damn good. Granted, preseason game, not playing against NFL starter level talent. I understand all of that, but I think it’s clear to everybody after last night, that he is a guy worth having on the field in practice with real players around him and other young players around him. They should be accelerating the path to Drake Maye being on the field. They should not be kicking this can down the road with Drake Maye, as you just heard Jerod Mayo say in that clip this morning. Why hasn’t he gotten first team reps? Well, that was the plan. It’s what the manual says. You were a four-win team last year. Throw the manual in the garbage. This is not Green Bay with Jordan Love. This is the New England Patriots with four wins last year. I I just think they look really bad today after how well Drake Maye played last night. I’ve been telling everybody about it, and I just feel a little bit of validation today, fellas. That’s what I really feel.
