Mac Jones weighs in on Odell Beckham’s free agency
Where will Odell Beckham Jr. play football for the remainder of the 2021 season? Over 24 hours after he cleared waivers, that question remains unanswered. The longer it takes, the more time there is to speculate.
Plenty of that speculation is happening in New England, with the Patriots being tabbed as a potential landing spot for the two-time All-Pro. On Wednesday, his potential future quarterback Mac Jones was asked his thoughts on Beckham as a player.
“I think he’s a great player and he has a choice to make,” Jones said, keeping things brief. “That’s up to him. That’s pretty much it.”
Beckham is indeed a great player, which is the reason for the circus around his decision. How would Jones feel about a player of his caliber joining the Patriots’ offense?
“We have really good receivers here. Anybody that wants to help us win is obviously a benefit to the team,” Jones said, before deferring to his boss. “I obviously will leave that up to coach [Bill] Belichick. You can ask him about it. But like I said, I know for a fact he always wants people that will come here and help us win.”
Will we get the chance to find out if Beckham could help the Patriots win? Hopefully, we’ll find out soon. At this point, Beckham is eligible to sign with any team at any time.
