NBA announces 2021-2022 Boston Celtics schedule
Friday afternoon, the NBA announced the 2021-2022 season schedule. With it, we now know the Celtics’ full slate for the upcoming season. Here’s some of the more-anticipated matchups.
After opening the season in New York against the Knicks on Oct. 20 – a game that was revealed earlier this week – the Celtics return to Boston for their home opener on Oct. 22. They’ll host the Toronto Raptors in that one. That’s one of only two home games the Celtics have in their first five, with the other coming against the Wizards on Oct. 27.
The Celtics first meeting with the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks will come in Boston on Friday, Nov. 12. They’ll also host the Bucks on December 13, then travel to Milwaukee for a Christmas Day matchup, and another on April 7.
A week after their first game against Milwaukee, the Celtics host the Los Angeles Lakers for the first meeting between the two teams. The C’s then head to L.A. on December 7, the middle game in a five-game, eight-day west coast road trip that also sees them visit the Jazz, Blazers, Clippers, and Suns.
On the night before Thanksgiving, the Celtics will play one of their most anticipated games of the year, hosting the Brooklyn Nets. It will be the first chance the C’s have to avenge last year’s playoff elimination.
