Celtics trade No. 30 overall pick to Grizzlies
98.5 The Sports Hub staff report
The Boston Celtics openly considered adding four rookies to next year’s team as “not ideal.”
That, despite the Celtics using their first two picks of the 2020 NBA Draft (on Vandy’s Aaron Nesmith and Oregon’s Payton Pritchard), turned out to indeed be the case, as the Celtics moved the No. 30 overall pick to the Memphis Grizzlies.
(The Grizzlies, in case you’re curious, used that pick on TCU’s Desmond Bane, a 6-foot-6 two-way wing who averaged 16.6 points and 6.3 rebounds in 31 games last season.)
As for the return, it’s probably best to keep your pants on, as it was first categorized as Celtics will receive a future draft pick from the Grizzlies in exchange for No. 30, per sources.
The Celtics will conclude their 2020 NBA Draft with the No. 47 overall pick.
