Abdul Carter dealing with sudden injury situation ahead of Pro Day
One of the best prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft is dealing with a sudden injury problem.
Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter suffered a small stress reaction in his right foot, as first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network Wednesday night. Carter mulled surgery after tests revealed the injury, but Rapoport followed up Thursday with a new report that Carter will work out at his Pro Day and decline surgery. Carter had already decided not to work out at the combine prior to his tests that revealed the stress reaction.
“The belief is, despite the scare, [Carter] should be OK,” Rapoport said.

Carter is arguably the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 draft, regardless of position. He’s legitimately in the conversation to go No. 1 overall. That’s why the Patriots have recently been considered as a fit for Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham at the fourth pick, instead.
It’s at the point that Carter seems unlikely fall to the Patriots at the No. 4 pick, even with the injury. And it appears that the injury is not considered serious, anyway.
