Bruins begin week with swap at forward
Back in Boston after a two-game road swing and with their six-game losing streak officially behind them, the Bruins made a forward swap for Monday’s practice, with Vinni Lettieri officially called up from AHL Providence.
Lettieri’s NHL recall comes with the 29-year-old in the midst of a campaign that’s featured 14 goals and 35 points in 35 games for the P-Bruins. Lettieri has been especially hot since December, too, with points in 11 of 16 games overall, and five goals and 20 points in total over that span.
Lettieri also had himself another banger of a game this past weekend, too, with two goals and an assist in Providence’s 4-1 victory over Bridgeport.
Back for another round with the B’s organization after a one-season stint in 2022-23 and after the B’s reacquired him in the trade that sent Jakub Lauko to Minnesota, Lettieri is also coming off what was a breakout season by his standards in the NHL, with five goals and nine points in 46 games for the Wild last season.
It appears that the Bruins will give Lettieri a third-line look out of the gate, too, as he skated to the right of Trent Frederic and Oliver Wahlstrom at Monday’s practice.
Overall, the 5-foot-10 Lettieri has put up 12 goals and 27 points in 129 NHL games between the Rangers, Ducks, Bruins, and Wild since 2017-18.
Lettieri’s next NHL opportunity came at the expense of Marc McLaughlin, though, with the North Billerica, Mass. native placed on waivers on Sunday. McLaughlin cleared waivers at 2 p.m. Monday, too, which allowed the Bruins to officially send him back down to Providence.
McLaughlin has scored two goals on 13 shots and added 23 hits during his 12-game run with Boston this season.
