Bruins sign Mark Kastelic to multi-year extension
The Bruins have officially identified the next long-term fit in their bottom-six forward grouping, with forward Mark Kastelic officially signed to a three-year extension on Friday.
The deal will come with a $1.567 million cap hit and run through the 2027-28 season.
Acquired from Ottawa in the Linus Ullmark trade last summer, Kastelic has totaled four goals and 11 points in 39 games for the B’s this season. His 11 points have already tied his previous career-high, matching the 11 he had in 65 games for Ottawa back in 2022-23.
Kastelic also has provided some definite jam to the Boston lineup, with a team-leading 151 hits (the second-most in the entire NHL for that matter), along with a team-leading six fights. That figure is also second in the NHL, trailing only the Jackets’ Mathieu Olivier.
The 25-year-old Kastelic was in the final year of his current contract, and was slated to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
With Kastelic officially re-signed, the group of notable pending RFAs on the Bruins includes forwards Johnny Beecher, Morgan Geekie, and Oliver Wahlstrom, along with defenseman Mason Lohrei.
