Patriots sign 6 players, including 3 newcomers, to practice squad
The New England Patriots added six players to their practice squad on Thursday.
The New England Patriots continue building out their practice squad. After making seven initial signings on Wednesday, the team announced the addition of six more players to the group on Thursday.
Three of those players signed on Thursday were with the team this summer – wide receiver Jalen Reagor, guard Michael Jordan, and defensive tackle Trysten Hill. All three were cut from the active roster Wednesday afternoon to make room for four players claimed off of waivers.
Along with those three, the Patriots also cut cornerback Isaiah Bolden on Wednesday. Bolden had to clear waivers before being eligible to sign with the practice squad, so he could still return. He still had a locker stall with his name on it prior to practice on Thursday.
In addition to bring those three players back the Patriots made their first external practice squad signings of the year. They added center Bryan Hudson, guard Jerome Carvin, and defensive end Brevin Allen.
Hudson, 23, was a UDFA who spent the summer with Detroit. A four-year starter at Louisville he played mostly center but has experience at has experience at right guard as well. He exclusively played center for the Lions this summer.
Carvin, 23, comes from the Bears after spending his rookie season last year on the Chiefs’ practice squad. He also has experience at guard and center.
Allen, 23, is also in his second year in the NFL. He appeared in two games for the Chargers last year, then spent this summer with the Green Bay Packers.
With these signings, the Patriots’ practice squad is now at 12 players (Defensive end Jotham Russell doesn’t count against the total as an International Pathway Program player). They have four spots left to fill.
