Patriots make over a dozen roster cuts ahead of deadline
The New England Patriots are well on their way to cutting their roster down to 53 players.
With final roster cuts looming on Tuesday, the Pats trimmed 14 players from their 90-man roster, officially announcing all of them in a news release Monday evening. Here are the players that were released, in alphabetical order:
LS Tucker Addington
WR Kawaan Baker
DE William Bradley-King
DT Josiah Bronson
LB Steele Chambers
RB Deshaun Fenwick
CB Azizi Hearn
T Zuri Henry
DE Christian McCarroll
TE La’Michael Pettway
DT Sam Roberts

CB Mikey Victor
TE Jacob Warren

On this list, the most notable release is third-year defensive tackle Sam Roberts. The Pats originally drafted Roberts in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He ultimately played 12 games in his first two NFL seasons, with one start.
Notable position battles that thinned out include tight end and cornerback. After the releases of La’Michael Pettway and Jacob Warren, a possible third tight end spot after Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper would go to either Mitchell Wilcox or rookie seventh-round pick Jaheim Bell.
At corner, Azizi Hearn and Mikey Victor were longshots to make the 53-man roster. Christian Gonzalez and Jonathan Jones are roster locks, while Alex Austin and Marcus Jones feel like strong bets. That leaves Marco Wilson, Isaiah Bolden, and rookie sixth-round pick Marcellas Dial Jr. competing for 1-2 roster spots.
