Mason Lohrei is The Peterson School’s Hardest Working Player of the Week
When the Bruins departed Boston for Edmonton for the start of a four games in six days swing through Canada and then Seattle, they did so without a critical piece of their defense, with left-side, three-zone stalwart Hampus Lindholm listed out of action (and with a week-to-week injury designation).
Given the struggles elsewhere on the Black and Gold’s left side depth chart, it was a loss that could’ve set the Bruins up for straight-up disaster. But thanks to a massive step-up from prospect Mason Lohrei, the Bruins have been able to keep their heads above water, while Lohrei has earned the nod as The Peterson School’s Hardest Working Player of the Week.
In what was his first NHL appearance since Jan. 18 last Wednesday against the Oilers, the 6-foot-4 Lohrei rose to the occasion with three assists in what finished as a 6-5 overtime win for the Bruins.
Lohrei’s three-assist outing made him the first Bruin to record a three-assist night since Jake DeBrusk did so in Mar. 2018, while Lohrei became the first B’s rookie defenseman to put up three assists in a game since Matt Hunwick accomplished the feat two times during the 2008-09 season.
In addition to the three-apple night, Lohrei also chipped in with four blocked shots, and finished with a career-high 23:32 of time on ice.

Lohrei parlayed that into another strong outing less than 24 hours later, this time against the Flames, and was a plus-2 in last Saturday’s overtime loss to the Canucks.
Overall, Lohrei’s week, which came with a quick move from Providence to Boston and then off to Western Canada, included three assists and a team-best plus-5 rating. That plus-5 rating is tied for the third-best mark among all NHL players since his recall, trailing only a plus-7 from the Flyers’ Scott Laughton and Nashville’s Roman Josi.
The Hardest Working Player of the Week is sponsored by The Peterson School. The Peterson School is now enrolling for their spring semester in Woburn, Westwood, Worcester, and Haverhill. To learn more, visit petersonschool.com.
