What is Felger’s favorite part of the NBA In-Season Tournament?
The Boston Celtics have advanced to the quarterfinals of the NBA In-Season Tournament after a victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night at the TD Garden. On Wednesday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger let everybody know what his favorite part of the tournament is.
What’s the best part of the In-Season Tournament?
Felger: The thing that the people who are against it dislike the most, the thing that the players say they dislike the most…is the best part about it. Point differential! That’s what made it. The fact that the Celtics were up, I don’t know what the exact number, call it 30 points, they were up something like 27 points in the fourth quarter with seven minutes left and they started to “hack-a-Drummond”, and that is cool. I’m sorry. That made it. That makes the thing. If you’re up 20 points in a nothing November game against the Bulls you’re checked out! You’ve tuned out, you’ve walked out of the building, you’re looking at your phone. You watched Mazz, as everybody did, to the end with “plus-23” in your head to the point where they started sending Drummond to the line and the coach was outraged and the Celtics coach was “embarrassed” and had to apologize and oh my God, Jaylen Brown is about to start a march. We’re going to hit the streets for the exploitation of NBA players! Jaylen Brown right now is mobilizing. Oh, my God, I love it! It was the best part of the thing.
J-Stew: Okay, so up 30 points with 7 minutes to go in the fourth quarter and you want to watch somebody miss free throws? Neat! Weee! Terrible look for the NBA.
Jim Murray: Well the quick fix to that is to tell Andre Drummond to work on your free throws you slob. Like you’ve been in the league?
Felger: Oh my God. How much money do you make, sir? How much money have you made in your career? And Billy Donovan wants us to take up “the cause”? The cause for Andre Drummond, who has made, I don’t know, I’ll guess a $100 million playing this sport and can’t make a free throw? Like I feel bad for Andre Drummond? Make me laugh.
