NHL reschedules nine games, finalizes February slate for Bruins

The string of games postponed by the National Hockey League during COVID outbreak that wreaked havoc throughout the league have officially been rescheduled, the NHL announced Wednesday.

For the Bruins, who truly went through their own personal COVD hell back in December, that’s come with nine adjustments to their 2021-22 schedule in total, beginning early next month.

  Tuesday, February 8: Boston Bruins vs. Pittsburgh Penguins, 7 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  This game, originally scheduled for Dec. 27, will be the B's first game out of the All-Star break. This will actually be the first 2021-22 meetings between the sides, too, as crazy as that may sound. The Bruins have been downright dominant against the Penguins on home ice, for whatever reason, with an 8-1-0 record and 39-25 scoring edge since 2017.
  
  Thursday, February 10: Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes, 7 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  Originally scheduled for Dec. 21, the sides will now conclude their 2021-22 season series next month. The Bruins are 0-2-0 against the Hurricanes this year, and have scored just one goal on first-year Hurricane Freddie Andersen.
  
  Saturday, February 12: Boston Bruins at Ottawa Senators, 12:30 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  One of two head-to-heads needing rescheduling in Ottawa, this game will be a makeup of the Dec. 29 postponement.

  Tuesday, February 15: Boston Bruins at N.Y. Rangers, 7 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  The Bruins will move this game from April 24 to February 15 to accommodate a postponement from December. The Bruins lost their only 2021-22 head-to-head with the Rangers in a Black Friday matinee letdown.
  
  Thursday, February 17: Boston Bruins at N.Y. Islanders, 7:30 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  Just like the game with the Rangers, this road game at the Islanders' new UBS Arena shifts from March 22 to February 17 to address a prior postponement.
  
  Saturday, February 19: Boston Bruins at Ottawa Senators, 7 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  The postponed Dec. 19 showdown jumps two months up the schedule. A bit weird to not just bang the Ottawa dates out with a back-to-back (something the NHL wasn't afraid to do last season), but perhaps there's a hope that fans will be back in attendance for this contest.

  Monday, February 21: Boston Bruins vs. Colorado Avalanche, 1 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  Boston's showdown with one of the premier Stanley Cup threats in 2022, originally scheduled for Dec. 23, will now take place February 21 at TD Garden. These teams tend to play some awesome games against one another.
  
  Monday, March 21: Boston Bruins at Montreal Canadiens, 7 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  The NHL has moved this January 12 game to March 21. This will be the Black and Gold's first game in Montreal since Nov. 26, 2019. That's absolutely insane.
  
  Sunday, April 24: Boston Bruins at Montreal Canadiens, 7 p.m. (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub)
  
  This Montreal game, which was originally scheduled for Dec. 18, may actually prove to be a huge break for the Bruins. The Bruins were originally slated to end their season with two-game slates against the Blues, Penguins, and Rangers — along with single games with the Panthers and Maple Leafs — over the final 10 games of the regular season. Throwing a potential 'gimme' like a rebuilding Montreal squad in there at the expense of a Ranger game can certainly help if the Bruins are in the thick of a wild card race.
