Patriots RB Rex Burkhead confirms he’s done for the season

Patriots running back Rex Burkhead confirmed everyone’s fears on Tuesday, tweeting that he won’t play again until 2021 after suffering a knee injury against the Houston Texans.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic first reported that the Patriots feared a torn ACL for Burkhead, who had to be carted off the field in the third quarter of Sunday’s 27-20 loss to the Texans.

Before the injury, Burkhead had gained 12 yards on six total touches in the game. He averaged 4.1 yards per carry and 7.7 yards per catch for the Patriots in 2020, and entered Sunday second on the team in total rushing/receiving touchdowns with six.
