Zolak & Bertrand: Should Spygate influence Robert Kraft’s HOF candidacy?
On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the guys dive into whether Spygate should influence Robert Kraft’s Hall of Fame candidacy. This was all in response to Don Van Natta’s recent piece on Kraft’s 12-year Hall of Fame push.
He didn’t even know it was going on…
Marc Bertrand:
The question is, should his involvement in Spygate, which apparently one voter believes is the biggest cheating scandal in the history of the sport…
Scott Zolak:
OK, whatever you believe in that… he had no clue about that. I know that because he called the guy schmuck for it. He was pissed, he was so pissed off when this thing came came around because he’s like, how many games did we think we won from this? And it was none. Did it help you? 3%, maybe.
Tim McKone:
Well, you won 3 Super Bowls post Spygate, so I would say no.
Scott Zolak:
Tom Brady got better after Deflategate. OK, so how much did that affect it? I mean, this is what we’re dealing with here. We always stole signals. I get hot about this whole SpyGate thing because even if you do and you know they’re going to play Cover 2, you’re still going to have 11 players on offense go out and execute against it. If you got a fast receiver that can run down the middle, I’m still going to scorch you for a touchdown. Like you’re still going to go play.
Marc Bertrand:
We don’t have to redo Spygate. I’m just telling you that there are voters that believe he knew more than he put on…
Scott Zolak:
Look at what Michigan was doing…. that was 500x worse.
Marc Bertrand:
So, the question is… let’s assume he knew everything and was in on it. Should that exclude him from the Hall of Fame?
Tim McKone:
No.
