Who is the Patriots best player?
The Patriots have one more preseason game before they begin the season on the road in week 1 in Cincinnati. The team is in rebuild mode and lack premiere players on both sides of the ball. The face of the franchise the last few seasons has been Matthew Judon, who was traded on Wednesday to Atlanta for a third round pick. Judon was the best player on the Patriots and players around the league identified him when speaking of the Patriots. With the pass rusher moving on to the Falcons, the question now who is the best player on the New England Patriots?
I’ve gone back and forth with the names but I dont think thay have one. But we have an article to write today so let’s have some fun. Can a lineman be the best player? How about a safety? If we just stick to the offensive side of the ball I’d have to say Rhamondre Stevenson or Hunter Henry are the best players. You could make an argument for Micheal Onwenu considering the offensive line has struggled. But that isnt saying much about your team. John Hannah was the best player for a decade and the Patriots were at the bottom of the league. The quarterback is not on the list but Drake Maye showed spark vs eagles.
Since we have no clear cut best player, I wanted to look up the Madden rating for the Patriots. Jabril Peppers and Jonathan Jones are both listed as an 85 overall. Judon was the highest at an 88. Jhalani Tavai comes in at 84 with Kyle Dugger and Onwenu and Ja’ Whaun Bentley are an overall of 82.
Let’s see how the season play out, but the team needs star power and someone to be the face of the organization. Drake Maye could be everyones meal ticket.
