This or That: Fire the entire Patriots coaching staff… or keep everyone?
On Thursday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the crew questions whether you’d like to keep everyone on the Patriots staff or fire everyone?
Nobody from this staff is making it to Year 3
Scott Zolak:
Well, my opinions always been, you know, something needs to change, and I don’t think it’s going to be Mayo. So, it would have to be the staff. I think Mayo’s back.
Marc Bertrand:
Leave it intact for Year 2 or dismantle everything except the head coach. Which is what I keep hearing… give him the resources and support. Every time that comes up. I say that’s code for we’re going to fire his coaches.
Scott Zolak:
But you have got to look at the results and it’s the same repetitive mistakes that are happening. That does take it to coaching for me. And nobody’s holding them accountable. I mean, we keep hearing the word accountability and the players keep saying that, like something’s got to change. Change has to happen.
Tim McKone:
I’ve been with you on the whole coaching staff, but if presented with that choice, I’m keeping everybody.
Marc Bertrand:
As am I. I am keeping everybody for Year 2 because I don’t think any of them are making it to Year 3. And I’ve been saying that for a while now. That was before I was saying they need to fire Jerod Mayo now. I don’t think anyone makes it to Year 3. So, why would you then bring in another offensive coordinator for Drake Maye in Year 2, who’s not there in Year 3? So now he is going to be one of those guys that has three offensive coordinators in his first three years? What’s the point of that?
