Patriots wide receiver outlook trending up heading into Kansas City matchup
Last time we saw the New England Patriots, they were significantly shorthanded at wide receiver in their 21-18 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday. It should look much different this Sunday, when they host the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their first practice since that Thursday game, the Patriots had multiple receivers return to the field. Demario Douglas (concussion) and Kayshon Boutte (shoulder) practiced after missing all of last week, while DeVante Parker (knee) practiced after being a late scratch for the game. All three were limited on Wednesday, along with wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (ankle), tackle Trent Brown (ankle/hand), and defensive lineman Christian Barmore (shoulder).

The Patriots’ lone absence at practice on Wednesday was running back Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle). Stevenson is expected to miss multiple weeks after suffering an ankle sprain against the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago.
There was also an IR return at Patriots practice on Wednesday. Offensive tackle Tyrone Wheatley Jr. (knee) returned to practice for the first time since early October, when he was placed on IR. The team now has 21 days to add him to the active roster.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs were missing four players at practice on Wednesday including running back Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) and linebacker Leo Chenal (illness). They listed six players as full participants, including starting safety Justin Reid (knee).
