Rams acquire Jalen Ramsey from Jaguars

Disgruntled cornerback Jalen Ramsey’s wish was finally granted on Tuesday, as the 24-year-old is no longer a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars thanks to a Tuesday night trade to the Los Angeles Rams.

In a day of roster maneuvering from the Rams — the team traded cornerback Marcus Peters to the Ravens and acquired offensive lineman Austin Corbett from the Browns in separate trades — the Ramsey-to-LA deal was finalized by way of the Rams sending two first-round picks (2020 and 2021) and a 2021 fourth-round pick to Jacksonville.
The trade continues Jacksonville’s recent stockpiling of draft picks, though, as the team has four first-round picks and a total of 18 picks to their name for the next two drafts.
Meanwhile, this is an obvious home run attempt from Sean McVay and Co., as the Rams are coming off a 20-7 loss to the 49ers on Sunday, and have dropped three straight games, dropping them to 3-3.
There’s almost no room for error in LA, now, as this was already a year headlined by hopes of a return to the Super Bowl following their 13-3 loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl LIII, and now features more than a handful of future paydays the Rams will have to work out before their window closes.
It’s also a price that the Patriots probably would not have dreamed of paying for Ramsey — even if Ramsey is regarded as one of the best corners in football and is coming off back-to-back Pro Bowls — considering his near month-long absence from the Jags for various reasons.
