Greg Bedard of BostonSportsJournal.com joined Felger and Mazz and gave his 3 trending up and 3 trending down for the New England Patriots with four weeks left in the 2024 season.
3 UP
Drake Maye
Greg Bedard: I think Maye has graded out well for me in five of his last seven games, including his last game, which was his best of the season. I think that he’s the type of kid that probably watched a lot of film. I expect him to be even better after the bye week, getting a rest and being able to reset a little bit, watch a little bit of film. I’m looking forward to seeing him coming out of the break.
Keion White
Greg Bedard: White’s been really good throughout the season. I know a lot of people were complaining about him in the last game against the Colts, but I had him for four total quarterback pressures. I think in that game they were using him not to spy, but he had to be aware of the quarterback run, bouncing that to the outside so they didn’t let him pin his ears back and go.
Christian Gonzalez
Greg Bedard: Gonzalez has just been really good in coverage all year.
3 DOWN
Rhamondre Stevenson
Greg Bedard: In the last three games I have him responsible for eight stuffed runs and he’s a minus-5 overall for me, where in the first eight games of the season he had one stuffed run and was a about a + 35 for me in my grading. I don’t know what’s going on with him. I don’t know if he’s hurt or what, but it’s either that or he’s just lacking confidence in the scheme.
Kyle Dugger
Greg Bedard: Dugger we’ve talked a lot about. He just continues to be the same player. It seems like teams target him. He has issues in coverage.
Jonathan Jones
Greg Bedard: Jonathan Jones is a guy, it’s weird, he only played 33% of the snaps in the last game. I think he’s a really good player. They’ve been playing him at safety and I don’t know if that’s been great for the team. They probably did that to make the communication a little bit better on the back end, they’ve been having issues with that. But I don’t think that’s been a net positive at all. That’s been a big concern of mine.
